Using
My Docs Online
Wireless Features with a SmartPhone
Users of wireless devices, primarily WAP-enabled "SmartPhones" equipped with mini-browsers from vendors such as Phone.com, can now use the same wireless "remote control" features available to users of wireless Palm PDAs. This tutorial describes the basics of how to set up a mini-browser equipped phone to access your My Docs Online account to select and send files to any email address as file attachments. |
|
| Launching the Mini-Browser and Using 'Go To...' | |
|
Refer to your phone's instruction manual for specific details of how to launch your phone's mini-browser. Typically starting the browser is a selection from the main menu, accessed by pressing your "menu" button. Usually the name of the mini-browser vendor (for example "Phone.com") is displayed at startup. Take note of which vendor's mini-browser your phone uses, as this can help you streamline this setup process. After seeing the mini-browser "splash screen" the browser will typically display a "Home Page" consisting of a list of pre-installed links, numbered "1" though "9", as shown. Using your "down cursor" control scroll past the last pre-defined link to "Go To..." and click the Accept button, which is labeled "OK", as shown. |

| Entering the My Docs Online URL | |
| After selecting "Go To..." a screen allowing entry of a URL will be displayed, as shown: | ![]() |
| Entering Data Using Your Keypad | |
|
Use your phone's keys to enter letters. For instance, press "6" once for "m", then "9" three times
in succession for "y", then "3" once for "d" and so on. If two successive letters share the same
numbered key (for instance "o" and "n") either pause after entering the first one to let the cursor
advance on its own, or use the Right Cursor Key to move to the next space. If you make a mistake you
can use the Clear Key ("CLR") to back up and erase the last letter entered. If you discover a mistake
several letters back, use the Left Cursor Key to move back to the letter you wish to correct, then use
the Clear Key to erase it. Then use the Right Cursor Key to move the cursor back to the end of the URL.
If you are using a Phone.com mini-browser you only need to enter "mydocsonline". The browser will add the "www." and ".com" for you, and MyDocsOnline will detect that the request is coming from the Phone.com browser and reply with the correct login screen. If you are using another vendor's WAP-enabled mini-browser or if the step above failed, enter mydocsonline.com/wap.wml using the menu key to locate the "Symbols" for "/" and "." If neither of these URL requests are successful, contact My Docs Online support via phone or email. Please include the brand and model number of your phone, and which carrier (e.g., Sprint PCS) you are using. |

| My Docs Online Wireless Login | |
| Using the same keypad techniques, enter your My Docs Online Login ID. It is NOT case-sensitive. Click the Accept button, which is labeled "OK". | ![]() |
| Enter your My Docs Online password. Passwords ARE case-sensitive. The password is displayed in ordinary readable text to make it easier to enter correctly. Click the Accept button, which is labeled "OK". | ![]() |
| Bookmarking the MyDocsOnline Menu | |
|
IMPORTANT: BOOKMARK THE MENU! To avoid the repeated entry of URLs and your ID and password,
bookmark (or "Mark Site") the MyDocsOnline Menu. Consult your phone's manual for details. On many
phones this option is accessed by first pressing and HOLDING the menu button. After marking the URL
you can access MyDocsOnline Wireless later by launching the mini-browser and selecting "Bookmarks"
from the Home Page, then selecting the "MyDocsOnline" bookmark.
From the MyDocsOnline Menu select "Show Folders". |

| Navigating and Selecting a Folder | |
| Because of device limitations, and user interface conventions, the Folder List screen can display your Files From Others, "My Files" and up to seven additional Folders on one screen. If you have more Folders the additional selection "More" will appear below selection nine. The number of files contained in each folder is shown in parentheses. Scroll to select a folder (or "More" to display additional folders) and press the Accept ("OK") Key. | ![]() |
| Navigating and Selecting a File | |
| The File List screen displays up to nine files in a particular folder (and "More..." if there are more than nine files in the folder). Scroll to select the file you need to send (or "More..." to display additional files) and press the Accept ("OK") Key. | ![]() |
| Entering Recipient's E-mail Address | |
| Using your keypad, enter the e-mail address of the intended recipient of your e-mail and file attachment, using the same techniques as were used to enter the My Docs Online URL. Press the Accept ("OK") Key. | ![]() |

SmartPhones equipped with minibrowsers are different from other web browsing devices - each one has a unique phone number which may be transmitted to web sites being accessed, depending on the policies of the wireless carrier. My Docs Online does not rely on, does not capture, and does not retain the phone number of our SmartPhone wireless users, and therefor will never share such user information with anyone else. For more details on privacy, see the My Docs Online Privacy Policy. |
